How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
If I could not have received the money from give directly I could not have managed to pay school fee for my daughter on time and my daughter could have continue staying home while others are learning. But I thank give directly my daughter is back to school and learning comfortably. I also now sure of putting up a spacious kitchen for my children to have a comfortable place to spent their night. I will earn my privacy once I complete building the kitchen from my children.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion give directly procedure of recruiting people was free and fair, their staffs were not corrupted. The process was also very secret, mostly their way of sending money which which was M-pesa was the best because it is very convenient and safe. I did not see anything that Give directly did not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent most of the transfer to pay secondary school fee for my daughter who was sent home for school fees arrears. My daughter has been staying home for sometimes since I was not able to pay for her school fee arrears, I was so much stressed because I was not sure when I was going to get money to pay for her fee. I thank God Give directly came to my rescue and I managed to pay her school fee and now my daughter is in school learning like other students. I also spent most of the transfer to add more building materials as I am, planing to put up a spacious kitchen for my children to get a comfortable place to in sleeping. Currently I am sleeping with them in the same house and since they are of aged they need their privacy like wise too me. A part from privacy the my main house is too small to accommodate us fully. The remaining I spent to buy two bags of maize for my family consumption.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that we are staying in a more spacious iron roofed house, I have been admiring to stay in. It's like a miracle to me and my husband without GD we do not think we could reach this far.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my trasnfer I was very excited because it was like a miracle to us.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my transfer on buying iron sheets, nails, polls and soil that I used to build my house, I also paid for labour because the house I was staying in was too small to accommodate my family and it was also leaking when it rained since it was grass roofed.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will be able to build a new house that is spacious for my family. This is because the current one is too small. With the balance, I plan to purchase a solar panel to assist me with lighting because purchasing paraffin on a daily basis is proving to be too costly.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when I am at the market place selling my products to my customers. Seeing them happy and satisfied with my services makes me very happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am facing is that I do not have a stable source of income to rely on. For a very long time, my business of selling samosas has not been doing very well.As a result, sustaining most of my family's needs like feeding, providing a decent shelter, providing decent clothing and ensuring that all my children go to school regularly has become a struggle for me.
