Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
After several years of being hired to look after someone else's cows, we are finally owning one of our own on our farm. We have been depending on other people to give us milk in order to prepare tea for the family but God Has opened the way for us to at least produce milk of our own. The problem relating to sourcing milk is now a story of the past since we can also afford to sell the surplus to the nearest tea joints.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
Receiving the money brought a great feeling of joy to every member of my family. I was very happy that what we had been expecting since we were enrolled had finally arrived. I thanked God and decided to summon my family members so that we can hold a session of prayers as a way of thanking God for the great thing He had done in our lives. I was not surprised thou since I was waiting on a promise which was made clear by GiveDirectly that it will come to pass.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
After receiving the transfer, we sat down with my wife and my elder son and lay down plans on how to spend the precious gift we had gotten. We promised ourselves that we must account for every coin that will be going into any expense bearing in mind that someone must have sacrificed for us to receive the money. Our first in priorities was to purchase a cow. Milk buying had been so consistent in our family that there had never been a day when we can have surplus milk to serve the emergency visitors or even the family when needed. We spend 13500 KES on purchasing a lactating cow. The second pressing need we had was the construction of a new bigger house for the family. For long we have been living in a single grass-thatched house and the space for my fast growing children was becoming a problem. We bought 14 iron sheets and woods which cost us around 10000 KES. I paid the construction personnel with some of the money and decided to spend the rest on foods where we bought two bags of maize, half a sack of beans and also budgeted some for buying other household goods. We also bought clothing for every member of the family which added the joy of our children. We are still thanking GiveDirectly for the great thought to support us.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means i will be able to buy dairy cattle which will in turn act as my daily source of income upon supplying milk to the nearby secondary school as well as some of my neighbours. I will also use the remaining part of the transfer to start a small business entailing buying and selling Second hand clothes in the nearby town
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am a casual labourer and my job entails fencing people's farm, planting and digging in their farms. I am usually happy in the mornings since this is the time my friends call me to join them in the same jobs since i know by the end of the day i will have money to buy food for my family
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I always yearned to go to college after completing Secondary school in the year 2017, but due to lack of school fees, i was unable to realize that dream. This has forced me to stay at home and engage in casual labour in order to provide needs for my family. Unstable source of income is my greatest challenge since sometimes i am unable to find any job to do hence a big difficulty in providing basic needs for my wife and children.
