How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is currently different from how it would have been had I not received the transfer because I have made a huge step in life. Through the money I managed to purchase livestock and I am proud for having made the great step. I could not afford them previous because I did not have a reliable source of income .
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, Give Directly does well by giving out cash and let people decide on how to spend them. Through the cash transfers most people were able to improve their lives. On the other hand, I have not seen any area that they are not doing well in.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent the second transfer on a cow for rearing. I consider it a way of investment for the future because in the future after it has given birth I will not only benefit from milk but I will also have an additional cow. Part of the money I spent on my bedding so as to replace the old worn out that I had previously. Finally, since accessing water in our area is challenging I bought a storage water tank too.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The transfers came in when I was still in bed asleep at 0600Hrs. When I saw the message I quickly jumped out of bed and went to find my fellow recipient and friend, whom I am also her trustee. She had also received her transfers and we jumped up and down with joy. We also planned together on how we would both withdraw the money, as I am her trustee. We were both very grateful.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now have a bigger and spacious house. I was able to expand my two-roomed house with an additional room and we now live in a bigger and more spacious house.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent my transfers to build an additional room to my two-roomed house. I have been living in a two-roomed house with my two children and my husband. The house has been lacking sufficient space for us. I work at people's farms for pay while my husband is a casual laborer. We do not earn enough money that can enable us to expand our house. I was very happy when I received the transfers as I was able to expand our house with an additional room and we now have sufficient space in the house. I also bought a solar panel to enable us to have power/electricity in the home. I am very grateful to GiveDirectly.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Owning a place of land has been my biggest ambition. At the moment the land we are having does not belong to us and we are getting constantly threat from the owner who wants to sell it out. Receiving this money means the realization of my longing since I am planning to spend $ 600 on purchasing 3 hectares of land. This will enable us to live a peaceful life something that we have lost for long.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Afternoon is the happiest part of my day. It is at this period that I am free from my morning activities and I use this time to relax under a shade while taking lunch with my children, they normally sing song to me something that make me happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Lack of adequate finances to fulfill my dream of owning a piece of land has been my biggest hardship. Being a housewife, I depend on my husband who works as a temporary driver a job that can only buy food for my family.
