What did you spend your second transfer on?
When I received my second transfer, I invested it in a fishing business; I bought fishing lines and rented a boat that I currently use for fishing. Initially, I was longing for having my fishing equipment, but I never had the means of acquiring them due to too high cost for me to afford.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
What Give Directly does well is that it sends us money directly, however, it would be prudent it does a ground check to verify whether community members used the money well.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have if I never received transfers from Give Directly in that I have managed to acquire self-employment-currently, I run a fishing business with my own equipment that I couldn't afford if it were not intervention from Give Directly. The business generates for me a daily income that caters for my household needs.

I never had food to eat, a bed and a mattress to sleep on and therefore when I received my first transfer, I spent on them. I bought a high density mattress and therefore I am currently sleeping more comfortably.

I got the money when I had nothing and therefore I felt very happy. I would be able to acquire food that I really lacked.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I face in my life is that my house is very tiny and it doesn't have enough space to accommodate us as a family making my kids to spend the night in their grandmother's house.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning when I go to the lake to get fish from the fishermen so that I can fry and sell it at our local market. This makes me happy as I am able to afford to cater for my family's needs like paying school fees and buying food when I get the cash.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money makes my heart to be filled with joy as I will be able to afford to build a bigger and better house, I will be able to pay school fees for my children and buy furniture for my house.
