Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was overwhelmed with joy the moment I received the Mpesa message from GiveDirectly. I already had planned on how I would utilize the transfer. Up to date, I am still happy because I accomplished all my goals.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
It has always been my desire to own a pair of oxen but I could not afford it due to my financial status. Through them, I am now in a position to plough my farm in time. Also, I can now take less time preparing the farm compared to when I used to do the exercise by myself. I am optimistic that the farming products shall increase. In addition, I will be hiring them to my neighbors at a fee and generate an income. Therefore, I will be able to meet my family's needs with ease.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of my first transfer on buying a pair of oxen at KES 30000. I later bought some building materials such as iron sheets, building poles, nails, and timber. This was for the construction of a new house since the previous one was almost collapsing. The remaining amount I bought good clothing and some foodstuffs fr my family that would sustain us in a month's time.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
The condition of my house is terrible and I have wished to repair it by replacing the old rusty iron sheets with new ones. My plan is to purchase 30 iron sheet at a cost of 6.5 dollars each, also I will use 100 dollars to pay for labor charge. The remaining amount will assist me in educating my child who is in form 3.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The afternoon is the happiest part of my day, unlike the morning hours when I busy with my household activities and weeding my farm. It is only in the afternoon after eating lunch my children that I can rest my body.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Imagine sleeping under a leaking roof especially at a time when we are experiencing a long downpour in a our area. This has been a tough time for me, waking up at night shifting my bedding from one side to another has been a difficult task for me. This is because of the fact that I lack enough finances to repair my roof. Therefore, lack of financial resources has been my biggest hardship in my life.
