How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I am in the process of building a very nice spacious iron-roofed kitchen to serve as a granary for storing my grains and a cooking place too. Having this kitchen is an assuarity of not running at a loss to insect infestation. The kitchen will be spacious that can accommodate many bags of maize comfortably. I also have an ox that shall help me in cultivating my farm. My plan is also to get an income out of it by hiring to neighbors. All these have brought a difference in my thanks to GiveDirectly.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly issuing money through the phone of every beneficiary was more safe because it minimized loss of the beneficiaries money either through fraud. I do not see any alarming issue I should address on GiveDirectl's work.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
My husband had gone to the market to purchase another ox and add onto the one we bought with the first transfer .The pair shall be very significant to scale - up our farming practices from previously tilling our self . I bought three goats . With the remaining I intend to complete the constructing my kitchen.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
I have been using hoes to cultivate my farm and at times hire oxen to do the work. This mostly made me finish cultivation very late. I ended up getting little yields all through the season or the harvest would be destroyed since I could not afford better farm inputs. It was devastating considering the efforts which I could put on my farm. The hope that I have of sorting the issues is the biggest difference in my life. I have already bought an ox. I intend to buy another pair and use them to cultivate my farm. I believe this will be the beginning of an increase in my harvest because a pair shall enable me to work on a bigger area in my farm . At the same time, I am anticipating to complete the construction of my house which I had started constructing earlier with my saving but unfortunately, inadequate finances made us withdraw from the project for a while.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I got a confirmatory message early in the morning that GiveDirectly had sent money . I jumped out of joy due to an overwhelming feeling of joy that I had . I immediately informed my husband who express his joy through a smile.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent 17,000 KES of my first transfer to by an ox purposely for cultivation . I bought building materials like iron sheets and building materials to complete the construction of my house . I bought food and paid school fees for my two children who are in primary school with the remaining amount .

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means purchasing a pair of oxen. This is the project that I have desired to achieve for a very long time. My aim is to scale up farming and curb food insecurity in my family. Currently I farm only 2 acres of land because I do not have enough money to hire oxen. Therefore I use my manpower which is less productive and cumbersome too. In addition to this, I will complete my house which is still under construction.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I always pray for good health in my family. Every morning when we wake up well it makes me happy. Seeing my children play is such a joy and I kneel down to thank God.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Food insecurity is the mother of all problems in my family. This is because we do not get enough from farming and therefore we buy from shop. Casual jobs being our major occupation is not enough to sustain us. This has made it even difficult to save since we live from hand to mouth. We work extra hard but there is nothing to show.
