How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Had it for the tranfers that I received, I wouldn't have paid school fees for my child who was in college at the time. She already completed schooling courtesy of timely fees payment. I also bought sheeps which I am currently keeping. I then feel I live comfortably since I already improved the house. The cow that I bought al would not have been had I not received the transfers.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
The organization actually does all the good things by providing financial assistance to the less to do families in our region.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the second tranfers in buying a cow. It's been my wish to own a cow mainly for milk provision. The cow is almost calving and therefore will ultimately get the milk. I also spent the rest of the amount in renovating the house by adding ceiling to my kitchen which had built along time ago.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now own five sheep unlike before. Since their gestation period is shorter, they will increase in number within a shorter period of time. Whenever I have an emergency, I can easily sort it out because they can be sold easily at any time since it is not costly like a cow and their market is always readily available.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was around seven o'clock in the morning when I received two consecutive messages. Upon reading them to know its contents, I was filled with happiness as one of the messages was from Mpesa indicating that I had received the money I had been waiting from GiveDirectly. This money gave me hope that I would be able to accomplish my plan of investing in sheep.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I own one cow and the milk I usually get is only enough for my family consumption hence I cannot sell even one litre. When I received my first transfer, I decided to spend part of it to buy a cow. With this, I will be able to sell some milk in future hence making dairy farming the alternative source of my income. Since sheep have a shorter gestation period compared to cows, I decided to use part of my money to buy five of them. They will increase in number within a short period of time and whenever I have an emergency I can easily sell one of them. I used the remaining amount to lease a tractor to till my farm and in buying maize seeds and fertilizers. I used the remaining amount to lease a tractor to till my farm and to buy maize seeds. I opted on this because it was planting season in my region and I was the only person who had not planted since I did not have money to even buy farm inputs.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Givedirectly came just came when I was thinking of poultry keeping but had no capital to start. This money means that i will now be able to do large scale poultry keeping. This will help be my source of income for our daily upkeep.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My usual day involves waking up in the morning then handling the household chores. In the morning, i have not experience anything that would worry me unlike in the evening when i have had alot of challenges to face and been able to solve some and unable to tackle others. That is why i feel happy in the morning
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
This year, our area has been hit by drought and there had been hardly any food for our cows to feed on leading to low milk production. The cows have been our source of income because we sell milk at in tough times we can sell a cow so as to use the money to meet our needs . When
