How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been If I never received money from GiveDirectly because I managed to buy a sewing machine which I use to make my own money. I used to rely on my husband for all my monetary needs but he was not able to achieve most of them. I am now glad that I can also raise some money through my tailoring work and support my husband for our household's needs.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well by sending money to the poor and gives them a chance to make their own choices on how to spend it. There is a lot of transparency since Since the money is sent directly to an individual's through the mobile money which makes GiveDirectly stand out as compared to other forms of giving aid to the poor in my region.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to build a new permanent house. I live in a small mud house and do smear it's walls and floor with cow dung frequently which is tiresome and time-consuming. I have always longed to have a permanent house to reduce the burden of smearing. I will soon start living in my beautiful house once the construction work is completed. I am happy that GiveDirectly empowered me and made my dream come true.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The new sewing machine that I bought will be enough to generate some cash for me into the future. I am trained tailor and I believe my skills in this field will propel to becoming the next best tailor within my locality.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was so happy and jubilated when I saw the text message from the organization because it came as a surprise to me. Even though I had registered with GD but I did not expect the money to come as soon as it did, I just want to thank the organization for their generosity.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I used the money a new sewing machine in addition to buying new building blocks that I will use to build a large house that can easily accommodate my family. The house that I live right now is quite small for my family and that is why I need a spacious house.

The happiest part of my day is in the afternoon when I go to herd my cows. This makes me happy as they are our source of milk in the morning.

The biggest hardship I face in my life is that our income is very low and we all depend on my husband's source of income which at times cannot be found easily.
