Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal for the next four months is to start a poultry keeping project. This project will earn me an income by selling eggs at the market. I will save money for the school fees.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is that I am able to pay school fees for my child in school. I depend on my casual jobs in the village and the amount of money I get through these jobs is so small and cannot gather for all the basic needs. My child used to be sent home to collect the school fees and because I did not have the money it was a big challenge for me. Currently, I have cleared all the school fees on time. The performance has improved as compared to previous terms. I am so happy because I have enough time to work on the farm and even save the money to buy food and also pay next term school fees.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change in the next six months in that I would have saved the money to buy a dairy cow. This dairy farming will enable me to cut the cost of buying milk daily which is very expensive.

Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
Since I have always depended on farming for survival, my new goal is to lease a piece of land to cultivate beans/onions to boost my income. These two normally fetches a good price in the market. This will be possible because I intend to use some of my savings to meet the farming expenses.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the past four months is that I no longer strain to do casual labour because, with monthly transfers, I am always well assured of a meal. It has always been a struggle and having recently invested in farming, I now benefit from the farm proceeds
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My expectation in the next six months is that my life will have greatly changed because I expect a bumper harvest after leasing the piece of land for farming. I also expect to have gotten enough cash to start selling second-hand clothes. This will automatically boost my income to meet my daily needs. Generally, I believe my family wellbeing will change to be better

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Initially before and even after receiving the transfers from GiveDirectly, I was borrowing a lot from my neighbors since the small amount I was receiving was all going to the settling of the many debts I had. These struggles have been off my shoulders for the last five months now and I can see the difference already. I have taken a step of improving my own farming, ensured enough supply of foodstuff to the household and also planning to construct a new house which was seemingly impossible in the past four months. I am grateful to GiveDirectly for the much support we're receiving in our household and with this, we are hopeful that our life will keep changing for the better.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
Over this time I have been living in a small, old grass-thatched house with a mud wall. I have now seen a need to construct a new one which is big enough to accommodate my growing family. At the moment we are sourcing construction materials which we have startd with the purchase of iron sheets. This to my household is a new goal after establishing a better agricultural production.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the fact that I have improved my farming. Initially I was hand-digging my small piece of land and using uncertified seeds since I never had enough money to purchase the certified seeds. Over that time I was working to see that I settle all the debts I had with the money I was receiving from GiveDirectly. In the last four months, I have seen a lot of improvement since I cleared all the debts and embarked on improving my agriculture. I have leased a hal an acre of land which I hired a tractor while ploughing and now I have planted certified maize seeds which are doing well after the second weeding.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
With the great plans we have put in place, I expect to see my family moving into the new house in the next six months. I am currently working hard to see that I find other sources of income which will boost our saving plan towards the construction of a new house.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
In the last four months, life was still hard on my side. Working on my business as well as struggling to feed the family was really hard and I had to always wake up early in the morning, attend to the casual works which I was doing before looking for the goods to take to the market so that I may get some profit. This kind of life changed gradually and now I feel settled and not running up and down the way I was doing before. I stopped working on casual labor and concentrate on my business which is giving me more profit now than at any other time before. I thank GiveDirectly for their consistency in giving us transfers which have given me an assurance that the period we were promised to receive will come to an end having boosted us in our daily chores. I have used the same money to improve my business which I can now proudly say that it's doing well.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
After we have streamlined the source of food for the whole household, I have a new goal to start a new project. Poultry farming is one of the productive practice which not many have ventured into. Egg production and even selling chicken when they have grown enough is one source of capital which will enable me to be productive in other sections. It is my plan to see the project running by August and that will be the start of other productive projects.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Having come from a humble background, I have always lived in a condition where insufficiency is the order of the day. Money, food, water, and other resources have always been hard to get. In a family of many, sharing food had been a problem since the little that we were getting were never enough for us. I thank God that GiveDIrectly came in to save us from that insufficiency; at the moment we are enjoying enough food both for the household and some surplus to be sold. This so far is the biggest difference in my daily life. Eating to the full and being ready to work in order to generate more is so encouraging. All thanks go to GiveDirectly for the support they are giving us.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
Changes have been many since I started receiving transfers from GiveDirectly. I have developed ideas after ideas which I have seen them coming to reality when I work on them. At the moment I have given myself a challenge with the new idea which I developed. I would wish to see a poultry project established in our household. This is so realistic based on the fact that I am sure of the source of finances and it is only a test of time before I start putting up the structure. This project in my speculations would have started generating income within the next six months.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently much different from how it was four months ago. Unlike before, I am now doing a cleaner and relatively easier work of teaching in a nearby primary school. Consequently, I am saving much of my energy to be used in handling my own stuff. Moreover, I have more time to rest and focus on other personal projects unlike before when most of my day was covered by the tedious casual work of weeding and carrying heavy loads for my neighbors. Still, I have managed to raise school fees for my son who has just joined a private pre-school to begin his studies. Without the GiveDirecly transfers, I believe that my son could be studying in a public school - something that I do not like because of the relatively low-quality education services offered as opposed to the private ones. Thanks a lot, GD, may God continue to uplift you.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new or additional goal for my life for the next four months is to buy 10 chickens for raising. I look forward to raising poultry because they tend to multiply quickly and serves as a regular source of income. I will be getting eggs on a daily basis for consumption in our family, while selling the surplus to fetch some income. Besides, the chicken will multiply within a relatively short time, and subsequently, return on investment will be recovered after a short while. Eventually, I will sell the poultry to get money for investing in larger projects, especially land, business and agriculture.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is that I have significantly reduced the tedious casual work that I used to do. I used to weed and carrying heavy and dusty farm products including vegetables for my neighbors. Currently, I am more relieved while doing a cleaner and less tedious work of teaching in a local primary school on contract. Hence, GiveDirectly is an invaluable entity to me.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change a lot in the next six months. This is because I look forward to starting a business of selling clothes in a nearby market. Subsequently, I will gain more income for using in improving my living standard. I will rely primarily on the revenue from my poultry farming, my casual work of teaching and the GD transfers to raise the startup funds. Moreover, I trust that with the increased income from the new business, I will afford to buy my own piece of land and settle (maybe later on).
