What did you spend your third transfer on?
I spent my third transfer on paying 15,000 KES school fee for my child in high school, used 15,000 KES to enroll my sister's child for a welding course, used 10,000 KES to mud smear my house which I previously built but never mud smeared it, bought a sack of maize at 5,000 KES, then used the rest of the cash on food for the house.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I wouldn't be having a decent house, unlike before when I used to have one room that couldn't even accommodate a visitor.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well by giving the money directly to the recipients without involving any third parties like village elders or area chiefs hence no corruptions involved.

What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer on buying building materials and paying builders to build me a new and bigger house because my previous house was just a small one roomed shack. I then spent the rest on buying a sack of corn for our feeding.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference is my daily life is that my children do not have to go without food because I can now afford to buy them food on a daily basis thanks to the transfers I got from Give directly.

We spent the first transfer to buy some iron sheets as part of construction materials to construct a big and better house. The remaining amount was spent on buying food and paying school fees for the children.

We were quite happy that at long last we will be able to construct a decent house for my family.

What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
Our first plan is to use part of the transfer to build a bigger house, because this one is small. Secondly, we intend to use another part of the transfer to buy a bull, that we would use in collaboration with other people, to plough our farms. Lastly, we plan to use the remaining amount to pay school fees for our child, whom we expect to join secondary school next year.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
The achievement we are very proud of is, having built this our house, because we used to live in a grass-thatched house that would leak when it was raining.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship we have faced is, inadequate income to to provide for the basic needs of our family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evenings, when we are sharing the events of the day, after supper.
