What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
We have been living in a borrowed house for the last 2.5 years due to the flooding of Lake Baringo, and our house was completely submerged in water. I, therefore, intend to spend the first transfer on buying building materials for putting another house on a higher ground which cannot be affected by floods. This will be a means of achieving a fulfilling life for me and my children.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Getting constant profits from my small business of vending food in the village has brought happiness to our lives. In the last six months, God has been on our side owing to the fact that my business has been doing good. We can afford to have a balanced diet food unlike before when the business had not flourished when we used to have anything that can fill our stomachs.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Inadequate cash to raise a family of 3 is the biggest challenge I am currently facing. I am a single mother vending food in the village earning approximately KES 150 a day as profit. I have three school-going children who are in primary and at different levels of their studies. Raising them single-handedly with the cash I earn from vending food is extremely tough keeping in mind the overwhelming economic time. I am now optimistic knowing that I will soon benefit from GiveDirectly's transfer and our lives will change. I cannot thank God enough for His mercies.
