How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been suppose I never received the transfer from GiveDirectly because I have witnessed a big transformation in my life. For instance, I am greatly relieved from the money related stress because the transfers from GiveDirectly enabled me pay college fee for my brother, something that I would have not done without GiveDirectly's support.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well in helping the extremely poor people directly without involving a third party who in most cases tend to ask for bribe before they help anyone. I have also realized that GiveDirectly is a transparent NGO through the fulfillment of all the promises it gave to us during the enrollment stages. I do not know what GiveDirectly does not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent part of my second transfer to settle the school fee arrears for my brother who had cleared his secondary school the previous year but he was unable to pick his certificate due to huge balances we owed the school. I spent the other portion to pay for his college fee after he successfully received his admission letter. I had been dreaming to offer him the best level of education I can despite the fact that I do not have a reliable source of income since I perceive him as a symbol of hope in our family. I believe that when he succeeds in his studies, he will greatly support our family.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The money has helped me so much. I know that in the near future, I will not have to use my own cash to buy white meat in the form of chicken because I now have enough stock. I will also sort out my financial needs by selling out my cows in the future and earn some cash in exchange.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was so happy when I got the cash from Give Directly when I got the message very early in the morning when I woke up. I called a friend to confirm whether she also got the message and she confirmed that she had also received the message. To say the truth, I was I was overwhelmed with happiness when I got the cash.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I used the money to buy a cow that I know will give birth in the near future and I will be able to milk for free. I will then be able to sell the calf's in the future when I run broke. I have also managed to buy chicken that I will sell in the future and use as a source of income. Finally I also managed to fence a piece of land where I will build my home in the future.

Receiving this money means happiness in my life. I plan to spend my transfer on improving my business. As a widow I will be able to provide for the family if I get this money.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning when selling vegetables to my customers. This is what keeps me going.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in my life was losing my husband at an early age. I have to take responsibility for the whole family, but I do not have any source of income. Life has been very stressful for me.
