How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different now in that, I have built a permanent house, I have bought household items and feed on a balanced diet. In addition to that I live a very peaceful life since I'm nolonger stressed on how to get money to buy basic needs. Before I received this transfers, I slept in a leaky house since grass is very scarce and expensive to buy in order to renovate the house. My beddings too were in a bad condition but I'm happy these transfers have changed my conditions of living that I sleep on new beddings.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my view, GD brought happiness to my community because these transfers have transformed people's standards of living. For example those who could not afford building houses have built, bought livestock, household items, land, motorbikes among others. In addition to that, GD gave out phones to recipient and sent money directly to each individual. GD does not ask money from recipients and every step of enrollment was unconditional. However, everything went on well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer on constructing a permanent house. The house I lived prior to receiving this cash was dilapidated and almost collapsed on me. So when I got the transfer I planned within the money I received in order for me to build a house. I hired a piece of land for a period of two years that I will be farming on since I do not have enough land. I also bought groundnuts seeds using this very transfer.
