How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than if I had not got this transfer in that I am now a stress free person after paying off the debt and regained ownership of an acre of land which I had mortgaged as security.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, Give Directly has done well by giving unconditional cash transfers to the rural poor. I do not see what they had not done well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I used my second transfer for paying a debt of 1,400,000ugx which I had borrowed for treating children and paying some debt that was incurred. I bought clothes for my children and spouse worth 150,000ugx and the balance of 83,000ugx, I used for buying food.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that, I can now afford to eat a variety of food stuffs which was difficult before.

When I received my first transfer, I felt so happy for the support that Givedirectly had sent..
What did you spend your first transfer on?
When I received my first transfers, I paid off the mortgage amount that I had borrowed for feeding the household. I bought a cow as a future saving for the household. To add on that, our living conditions have been horrible and I decided to purchase a bed, a mattress and other household utensils. The balance of the money I used for feeding the family.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship i face is poverty. This because of little harvests realised each year due to limited land for cultivation.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest moment is during envening hours, this when my children help me with domestic work.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means to buy land for farming. My family lacks enough land to be utilised for cropping and due to this we always expireince little crop yields that can sustain our home needs.
