How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different from how it was before Give Directly came into my life in that, I managed to meet most of my goals. For instance, I now live in a decent house because of the help I received from this organization. Apart from that, I bought an additional cow. I don't think I could have achieved any of these goals without their help. The burden of paying last terms school fees was also taken out of my shoulder and I am glad that I do not have any school fees arrears as at now. I attribute all these accomplishments to GiveDirectly.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
What I love about this organization is that the money that was given out was unconditional. Most of us were able to achieve our goals. This greatly changed our living standards. Our daily income increased and most of the responsibilities that we struggled to meet are no longer a bother. I don't see who would have brought such a big impact in our village better than Give Directly.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I started purchasing building materials using the first transfer with the aim of building a decent house. When I got the second one, I added a few materials that enabled me to do my construction project. Although it is not complete, we have already moved in. We will do the rest of the work later after planing our finances. This house is far much better than the first one because it is spacious and decent. With the new house, I will not be embarrassed to welcome visitors unlike before when I could avoid them like a plague since it was squeezed and stuffy at times.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my life is the fact that I now have a wooden house which is much better than before because we have been living on an earthen one.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was in the house resting when I received the funds so I decided to buy airtime on mobile money to confirm that it was true. And it was true so indeed true that Give Directly had sent me the funds, I was happy. Thank you for the funds.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
From the transfer that I received from Give Directly, we spent 20,000KES to buy a calf, 15000 KES on wood frames to build a house, 7000 KES on school fee and the balance on food and clothes.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship i have faced in my life is being unable to pay school fees for my two children in secondary school. I have no employment and the maize i used to plant in order to sell and get money did not grow well this year
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening. This is the time i get to rest after a tiresome day of engaging in casual jobs in order to provide food for my family.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means i will be able to pay school fees for my children and buy dairy cattle which will act as a source of income to my family, since we will be able to sell milk and use the money we get to buy food and other basic needs
