How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is currently different than how it would have been had I never received the transfer since I have been able to build a house for my children. Due to this, they now sleep comfortably without any disturbances like before when they used to be sleeping in the kitchen. I am also always proud to receive visitors any time since I know that there is a place where they will sleep at comfortably.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my own opinion, GD did well by honoring their promise and there is nothing that they did not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
When I received my second transfer, I spent part of it to pay school fees for my children and to buy for them some school requirements. They had been sent back home to collect the outstanding arrears and I had not been able to raise the money. Also I bought a table as I had only one and some utensils since the ones I had were not enough. I spent the remaining amount to buy some basic needs for my family. I bought enough food to last us for some time and clothes.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have built a better and spacious kitchen for my family. Before I used to have a small grass-thatched kitchen for cooking. There was a big problem because it was leaking from the inside and cooking was a problem especially during the rainy season. My children used to sleep in the same house and they were exposed to cold. I remember the could complain so much and because I was doing casual jobs and the money that I get from that was not enough for me to buy building materials to build a new house for them. I could not welcome visitors to my house because it was not decent but currently I have a good house and I don't fear to welcome visitors anymore. My children also have a good place to sleep and do their assignment. We are so grateful because our living standard has improved.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my money I felt so happy. I remember it was very early in the morning when I heard a message from my phone and I thought it was the common message from friends but when I checked it I could not believe my eyes because I have never received such amount of money before. I do casual jobs and the money that I receive from doing that was so little. My spouse and children were so happy because we knew our lives will change to be good. On that morning we went to buy building materials and planned on building a house.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer to built a spacious kitchen because the one I had was small and it was so inconveniencing when cooking food. I also bought a heifer and the rest of the money I used it to buy clothes and food for the family.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money will enable me to boost my vegetable vending business which i was nearly giving up on due to financial instability after spending all the business money in paying school fees arrears for my four children after being sent home from school earlier this month. I also plan to buy sheep and goats which will act as a long term savings plan since i will be selling some whenever they multiply to take care of school fees and other needs
What is the happiest part of your day?
I usually spend my mornings and afternoons in my farm weeding maize, beans and some vegetables. Evening is the happiest part of my day after getting back home carrying some vegetables (for the evening meal) from the farm. This is the time i get to relax in the kitchen with my husband when preparing supper as we listen to radio music as we sing along
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship i have faced in my life is the struggle my spouse who is a primary school teacher and I go through in meeting the needs of my family. We have four children who are still studying, two in the university and two in secondary school. The salary my spouse earns from teaching ain't enough to to provide sufficiently for the family since he spends three quater of his monthly salary in paying school fees, something that has made us lag behind in terms of initiating bigger projects that could be profitable in future.
