Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was a few minutes past 10 am when I took my phone to call one of my friends when I realized that I had an unread message. Upon reading it, my heart was filled with happiness as it was a Mpesa message indicating that I had received the promised cash. I informed my spouse who was equally overjoyed while claiming that she could not wait to be an owner of a dairy cow as we had planned to use the cash to acquire one.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
My life has never remained the same again after receiving the transfer as I am now a proud owner of a dairy cow. I used to own one some years ago but it died after falling sick for some time. Currently, I am happy that my family will have enough milk for consumption and sale very soon. This will make me be at peace knowing that our daily expenditure has been reduced and I can do some developments that will yield profits with time.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
On receiving my transfer, I spent KES 42000 to buy a dairy cow and its heifer. We settled on this as a family since we've been getting milk from my parents and when the only dairy cow that we depended on died, we resorted to buying and it is expensive. I am glad that we will be able to save the money we would otherwise use in buying milk and also be able to support our parents with some when it calves. Also, I spent KES 7000 buy some food and clothes for my family and KES 5000 to buy a barbed wire that I am planning to use in fencing my compound after buying some poles using my second transfer. I am glad that I was able to achieve this with the help from GiveDirectly as I would not have been able to achieve them on my own.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means a lot to me since it will enable me to buy Two dairy cows worth sh.30000 each and three rolls of barbed wire. I do not own any cow at the moment, I usually depend on my family for milk. The barbed wire will protect my piece of land as well as crops. There have been some neighbors who graze their goats on my piece of land and sometimes they destroy my crops, this disappoints me a lot. Give Directly's money will therefore help me to gap this challenge and peace will prevail between me and my neighbors.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The afternoon is the happiest part of my day because I do not have anything disturbing my mind.I do relax in the afternoon mostly .
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
This disease which affects our maize has been a great challenge to us for a long time.we have not harvested maize in the past five years .We had to go to Chebunyo our nearby market to buy maize and this was quite expensive for me.
