How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is much different and comfortable now because I constructed a two roomed permanent house. This was an achievement considering the fact that I had lived under a grass thatched house for over 40 years.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly does well to send the poor people cash transfers that have helped them alot. Furthermore, my prayer is that if they could enroll all the community members without leaving out others.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the second cash transfer to pay debts and save some for the children's school fees.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that, I have been in position to settle the debt I had, which has made me very happy. In addition, I am planning to start constructing an iron roofed house that will relieve me from the challenge of looking for grass annually for renovating my house. Before receiving this transfer, I didn't have enough money to pay off the debt and buy construction material for building an iron roofed house.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my money, I became very happy because this money was going to relieve me from the debt burden that I had.Furthermore my plan to construct an iron roofed house was going to be accomplished.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer to pay off the debt that I had worth UGX 800,000. I have not yet spent UGX 900,000 that I am planning to spend it for buying construction materials (bricks and iron sheets).

What does receiving this money mean to you?
When I receive this money, I will build an ironsheets house because grass has become expensive. This grass requires you to change it after every 6 months which makes it expensive. But when I get the ironsheets one, I will have saved the money that would be diverted to purchasing grass. I will also use part of this money to pay loans that I borrowed to pay school fees for my daughter. I staked some piece of land for that loan and this will be the best chance for me to regain my land and put it into agriculture.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when I am done with most of the work in the garden and at home.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced is lack of money to pay my children's school fees. This has stretched me alot that I even had to pick a loan to pay school fees.
