How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Four months ago, it was a real struggle to provide basic needs such as food to my family and my kids also used to go to a public school with a very low quality of education. Today I can say I am a proud parent since the business I had started is generating some income to feed for family and also provide the best education for them.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
in the next four months, my husband and I are planning to jointly invest more in the tea business by increasing stock hence generating more income.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I started a tea business where I buy tea from farmers sell it directly to a nearby tea factory. Previously, I was involved in the normal casual work in tea farms in my neighborhood. This job was so involving and strenuous. Despite all that ,I used to make meager earning and this would not sustain me and my family. Sometimes I was forced to skip some meals in a day in order to sacrifice for my children. Since I received the transfers from GiveDirectly, I opened a savings account in my Mpesa. This savings has enabled me to start the tea business which has grown tremendously. I now have some income to provide basic needs for my family and also provide the best education to my two children since I transferred them from a public school to a private one. All I can say is thanks to GiveDirectly.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect more profit from the current business hence more income. I am planning to save some of this income to starting a dairy farming.
