How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The biggest difference in my life is that l now have my own cow that u will be able to get milk out of it. I will not spend money any more to buy milk from my neighbors as I am doing now. I will so be able to educate my children with ease because will sell the cow and get money for their school fee.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion Give directly does not involve third party in their program, they deal with people directly. I also feel it was a very good thing to use M-pesa as away of sending money to us because it is very convenient and safer way send cash. Their stuffs were also transparent in everything they were doing, there were no any signs of corruption. I did not see what Give directly did not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent most of the transfer to buy two dairy cows as my future investment. I thought of buying dairy cow as a way of investment since I am planning to sell the calve after the reproduction and spend the money to pay school fee for my children . I will also get milk from it for my consumption and also sell some to the near by market and save the money for my children. Since my children are still very young, they are in primary school and very soon they will be joining secondary school and this will help me pay their fee with ease. I also spent the transfer to buy two bags of maize for my family consumption since I did not get enough harvest last season because there was a lot of draught. That duration I was able to feed very comfortably without worrying of tomorrow. The remaining balance I spent to buy clothes for my family members since we did not have any decent clothes to put on when going for a visit.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means improved living standards for my household. I would like to spend the transfer on construction of a new house. My current house is leaky and uncomfortable during rainy season.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is in the evening when I get paid for casual labor services and buy food for my family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I am facing in life is lack of proper shelter. I am usually rained on during wet seasons due to leaky roof. This exposes me to infections like pneumonia that so much affect my health.
