Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy the moment I learned that I had received my first transfer. It was like a miracle to me because I had never received such a huge amount of money in my entire life.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the fact that I now own a semi-permanent spacious house. I settled on this since the cost of renovating our old house was almost the same as that of building a new one. The previous one was not spacious and its condition was not good at all. We have been seeking shelter whenever it could rain for all those years. I had been longing to live in a decent house but my family needs never gave me a chance to build one. I am now happy because I managed to construct a decent house that is spacious enough and fits all my family members. Courtesy of GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of my first transfer on buying some building materials such as some pieces of iron sheets, building poles, timber, and nails. This was for the construction of a new house because the previous was was is a critical condition and very small. I also bought some goats as my living dependable assets. In addition, I then purchased some beddings sich as beds and mattresses for my family to replace the traditional beds that we have been using. I also bought a battery for my solar panel. The money that had remained, I used it in buying enough foodstuffs for my family.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My ambition has been to have a long term investment but this motive has never been fulfilled due to financial constraints. Receiving this money means starting a retail shop. I am planning to spend $ 800 for a start. This shop will be a good source of income because in a day I can make approximately $10 profit. This is enough to sustain my family in future. In additional I will spend the extra amount purchasing 6 goats .I will be able to sell them when them multiply.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is in the afternoon. It is at this time when I enjoy sitting with my friends and chat .Unlike at night when am alone thinking of how my future will prevail.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship is lack of reliable source of income. I am a housewife who depends on my spouse who sometimes does not support me due to marriage conflicts. This has been a challenge I can not even cater for my daily needs.
