How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The biggest difference in my life is that I have managed to have a stable investment where I will be able to pay school fee for my children with ease without bothering people. When the goats will have mature I will sell them and pay school fee to my children. I am also very stress free after spending the money I received from give directly to pay school fee for my child who was almost dropping out of school, I am now sure of my child completing her secondary school.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion give directly did very good think by using E-mpesa as a means of sending money to us since it is very convenient and safe. It was also a good thing by dealing with people directly and not involving authorities since it could have attracted corruption.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent most of the transfer to pay secondary school fee for my daughter who was sent home for school fees arrears. My daughter has been staying home for sometimes since I was not able to pay for her school fee arrears, I was so much stressed because I was not sure when I was going to get money to pay for my daughter school fee. I thank God Give directly came to my rescue and I managed to pay her school fee and now my daughter is in school learning like other students. I also spent the transfer to start livestock farming where by I bought goats and heas of sheep started rearing them. I thought of starting livestock farming since it is a way of saving money and the same time making it grow, this is because have so many children who are still school going. I will be able to sell the goats and sheep once they have matured at a higher price and spend the money to pay their school fee. The remaining balance I spent to buy food stuffs for my family consumption, my family was able to feed on a well balanced diet food and eating without missing any meal as the used to do before.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Before I received this transfer, I used to struggle to raise food for my family and at times we would go without food and that my house is more lively ever since I bought the television since we can be entertainmed while in the house unlike before when we depended on each other for company.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt very happy because I finally will have my desires such as expanding my house and household items which I really needed such as television for entertainment, food and bed which I did not have in my house.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my transfer on buying building materials like iron sheets, timber and nails which I used to expand my house since it was too small for my family and the rest on buying household items such as bed, television, food and seeds which I will plant.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means happiness and better life for my family. I would like to spend the transfer in sugarcane farming. I hope I shall be able to buy fertilizer and do weeding on time for better harvest. This will be of more sustainable income for my household.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning when I go to the sugarcane farms to offer casual labor. This has since been my source of income when I get engaged and paid afterwards.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I am facing in life is lack of reliable source of income. I rely on casual labor in the nearby farms that is seasonal and tedious. I am unable to provide for my family's basic needs from this source.
