How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than how t would have been because currently, I have two dairy cows in my homestead. Previously, I never have any assets in my compound that I could mention simply because they were very expensive and considering my low wages, I couldn't afford to buy them. Through the dairy cows, I am now getting plenty of milk for free whereby a few litres are for my family consumption and the remaning litres are for commercial purposes. In a day I normally sell like 5 to 6 litres at KES 50 each litre. This has really improved my living standard and I no longer strain in meeting the family's needs like before. Also, I am now sleeping in a better house with all m family members which has been my dream. We have been sheltering under a very small house which so stressful. This is now a history courtesy of GiveDirectly
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well in my whole region and no one could complain. We were all issued with mobile phones since the money was sent directly into our Mpesa accounts. Also for easy reach whenever the officers made follow-ups on the money. On the other hand, I do not see any sector GiveDirectly failed us.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of my second transfer on buying some building materials such as 24 pieces of iron sheet, building poles, timber and several nails. This was to construct a new one becasue the previous one was very small and with a leaky roof. Also, I hired someone to prepare my farm since it was the planting season. At least there was a relief in that particular season. Also with the remaing amount of money, I brought enough food that would take us to the next harvesting season, some decent clothes for my children

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was around 1400Hrs and I was just in the house. I heard a message come into my phone and when I checked the message it was the Mpesa message. I was very happy and excited.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I was able to build a house for my family and to buy livestock. I now own livestock and my family and I can live in a comfortable house.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent my transfers to build a house, to buy two cows and to pay school fees for my children. I have two children and I farm at our farm. My husband works as a construction worker. We lived in a small house that is also grass thatched. The house is two-roomed and has been quite uncomfortable as it is small. I am grateful to GiveDirectly that we can finally live in a comfortable house.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have been dreaming of how best I can secure my family's future and I have come to believe livestock keeping is my best choice. We have a large piece of land that can allow me to graze a herd of cattle peacefully. To me receiving this money means I will live my dream life since I will have achieved my goal of securing my family future through investing part of my transfer on livestock. I will have milk for both household use and sales for an extra income. I will also have offspring that will always be my financial security.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Relaxing in the afternoon with my young family after completing my daily chores gives makes me feel happy. I feel happy and stress free at this time of day since we are all at home relaxing and bonding as we plan what we can engage in the following day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I quit my family at my tender age to get married. I thought I had made in life until I had to realize that I was to stand up for my family. It was unfortunate that I had gone to another humble family but that never bacame an issue, the regular fights and wrangles in my young family over our daily responsibility became my worst heartbreaking experience ever faced in my life. It was hard for us to managing enough the scare resources to feed our family.
