How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
If it was not for the transfers, I would not have renovated my house. The roof was leaking while part of the walls had fallen off. Thanks to the transfers I currently have a decent secure house . My children too were able to sit for the end term examination, courtesy of the Give Directly transfers.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion I am grateful to Give Directly for giving cash to people. This enabled most people to improve their lives. On the other hand, I have not seen any areas they need to improve on.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
My house was at the verge of falling down and I found it risky to stay in it. I, therfore, bought building materials which I have already used to renovate the house. In addition to that , I did not have proper bedding , instead I used to sleep on rugs so I bought bedding with part of the transfer. I am glad I can afford a peaceful sleep. I also paid for my children's school fee with part of the money and this enabled them to sit for the term examinations .A portion of the money I spent food.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I saw the transfer message early in the morning and on checking the contents, I realised it was from GiveDirectly, informing me that I had received my first transfer from them. I was overwhelmed with joy as I began to plan how to spend it to fulfill my needs.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The transfer helped me to pay fees for my seven children and also did some shopping on stationery for them. They were frequently sent home since I had not paid for them on time. They were allowed back to continue with their studies. I am now having an ample time to prepare for their next payment which makes it to be the biggest difference in my daily life.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of my first transfer on paying school fees, buying new school uniforms and stationeries for my seven children. They were allowed to continue with their studies having cleared the arrears. I also purchased two goats which I am currently keeping in my homestead. In addition to this, I also purchased iron sheets for roofing my house since I had not finished it. I also purchased a new bed and a mattress to replace the old beddings I have been using. I am spending the remaining amount on buying daily foodstuffs and other household items.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means a descent and a spacious house for my family. I'm planning to use 650 dollars from this donation to construct a four bedroom house. One room for my husband and me, two rooms for my children and one room for any visitors that might come to check on us. Shelter is one of the basic necessities of life. It has been my desire to own a descent and a spacious house and am happy GiveDirectly will make this dream come true.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning. Waking up in the morning healthy and my children healthy too makes me happy irregardless of the day to day challenges I face.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is lack of a descent and spacious house for my family. My big family of ten is unable to be sustained in the small house I own. After dinner, some of my children are even forced to seek sleeping space from the neighborhood. This exposes my children to the risks of snakebites given that my village is located at the center of a forest.
