"My husband is physically disabled and i am the only person who cultivates. It's a challenge to produce enough food for the family such that most of the times we experience hunger."

"My first priority when I receive the money is building a one bedroom house. My current house is very small and the roof is grass thatched. During the rainy season I am usually forced to seek shelter in my brother's house. The house will cost me around 300 USD. I will also buy a bed and a mattress so that I can sleep comfortably. I will then budget another 300 USD to buy 10 goats. Goat rearing will ensure that I have something to sell when I require emergency funds."

"I'm a single mother,i got separated from my husband 3 years back, sadly he doesn't even send help for our daughter, as a single woman all i do is farming which is kinder hard because for me to harvest much products i need to invest more farm inputs like fertiliser, seeds,as well as labour, all these are costly and i can't afford i end up yielding peanuts yearly and it is really frustrating since i can't do anything about it and it is far from enough to take us through the year."

"I got separated from my husband one year ago and since then I have been solely fending for my four kids. With little capital to invest in my fruit parlour business, I intend to inject 20,000 shillings from the transfer to introduce more varieties of fruits. I will also use an additional 22,000 shillings to cater for the basic needs of my kids like food and clothing. For the remaining amount, I intend to buy a small piece of land at cost of 50,000 shillings and use the proceeds from my already expanded business to gradually construct a house of my own."

"For a long time my biggest desire has been to provide a good shelter for my family. However, this dream has never come true because it requires enough finances to facilitate the project. This has therefore reduced us to living in a single roomed house that serves as the kitchen too. To make it worse, the structure is a delicacy to termites because of its grass thatched roof. This causes it to leak during rainy seasons thus eroding the mud walls. Receiving this money therefore means, building a better house for us."

"Receiving this money means I will live an exceptional life. I have been aspiring to live a comfortable life by improving my house. I am planning to acquire a water tank that costs approximately Ksh 10,000 since getting water for domestic use has been tiresome because we get it from a far place which is approximate 2 kilometers away. I will be able to tap rainwater and this will save me the hustle of fetching water. The remaining cash will use it to improve my house. Because I am getting old, I would like to cement my house and get away with the dust that comes from sweeping every day which has affected my eyes and throat. This will also improve my deteriorating health which has come with old age."

"Imagine living in a house which leaks in water during rainy seasons making the whole house dumpy! This has been my situation for the past 5 years yet being helpless, there is nothing much I can do to salvage the situation. Catching cold and flu is my daily norm thus weakening my immunity. This is the biggest hardship I face"

"I lost my job as a cleaner when corona hit the country last year March. I relocated back home and started doing casual labour jobs such as construction within the village. It has been my dream to be self employed in the poultry sector. When I receive the transfer I will use it to start poultry farming and livestock farming by buying at least 10 goats and some chickens. Having my own source of income gives me job security and I can earn more income through it."
