Mary
received a $27 tenth payment.
"Over the years, I intended to replace the roof of my house but lack of finances hindered me. The iron sheets corroded over time and developed perforations that let in water whenever it rains, thus dampening the space. Thanks to Give Directly, there is potential to renovate the roof through cash transfers. First, I plan to start buying the iron sheets until I assemble at least 24 pieces then hire someone to complete the project later. Regardless of the financial obligations like food and school fees, I hope to be able to save towards this goal"

Dama
received a $27 tenth payment.
"Since I lack a source of income and considering my old age, livestock keeping is the surest investment I can make to support my family’s needs. Am happy that some of the goats I bought through previous cash transfers gave birth already. This motivates me to secure more goats and grow my herd to at least ten by the end of the year. I pray they help me generate funds to take my grandchildren back to school as am their only hope. "

received a $415 second payment.
"I am hoping that very soon I will be able to purchase a dairy cow. I am positive that once I own it, I will benefit from the milk that it will produce daily. I plan to sell to the local dairy shops and local restaurants in the neighboring town and earn some cash. I will therefore save the money specifically for my children's school fees. I will, however, not have to strain as much as I have before."

Jumwa
received a $431 second payment.
"I spent part of my second transfer installing a tap water system in my compound. For so many years, I have been fetching water from my neighbors, which is a bit far and tedious in carrying the jericans. I feel there isjerricans deal of relief since I will no longer be getting tired. I also paid the college fees for my daughter, who is pursuing a teaching course. I have always wished to see my daughter get a good education and pursue her career since I never got the chance to go to school. I am confident she will have a bright future. I also bought two goats for $60. I am now optimistic that I will become wealthier in a short period of periods will, however, be of great help to me, especially in sending my children to school. Besides, whenever an emergency occurs, I will be able to sort it out. With the remaining amount, I bought food for my three family members. Taking two meals a day has never been manageable, but I am glad that through GiveDirectly, all has changed. "

"Many people thought GiveDirectly was targeting a specific group during enrollment, but it turned out that everyone had an equal chance of receiving the support. Everyone was relieved to receive the cash transfer, especially the small families who had never had decent housing. The majority of them used the transfers for construction, while others used them for livestock. The freedom to spend our money on whatever we saw fit was also a good idea that helped to distinguish the program because we all faced different challenges in our homes. The process was brilliant, and I hope that the same approach is used in the following villages."

Benard
received a $416 second payment.
"I am the firstborn son in a family of five sons, and I have been enjoying the family resources since I married, including a share of milk from my parents' livestock and a piece of land to farm on while my younger siblings are still in school. My family is currently living on a 0.8-acre plot of land. The idea of dividing it among five of us was a wake-up call, and we had hoped to start saving for an additional piece before relocating. My plan is to invest more in livestock, breed and multiply them, and then sell them and use the proceeds to purchase some land."

"respect and patience, and they were always ready to help us understand the project by efficiently answering all of our questions. Their humility encouraged us to freely interact with them, allowing us to comprehend the entire enrollment process. The process was efficient, and it could be useful in other villages that are still waiting for GiveDirectly's support."
