How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has changed now compared to my past life experience. In the past, we could miss meals and if it happened to have one, it could be one class of meal. Now, we have enough and nutritious food for the family. My children used to suffer from malnutrition related infections, like kwashiorkor and anaemia which took family a lot of resources to manage, but now, I have a healthy family which I can boast of and the money I was using for medication, was taken into new business.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has given me opportunity to access things which I could have not possessed in my entire life. I bought some livestock as a banking method for my children's education in future, when they multiply, I will sell them to raise money for my children's school fees. GiveDirectly has given people equal opportunity and freedom to spend their money in accordance to their needs.
GiveDirectly should reconsider continuous assistance to those in the system rather than one attempt intervention. This will help in planning and proper utilization of the fund.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer in paying school fees for my late sister's daughter whom we are living with. My sister died shortly after the death of her husband, and there was no body to take care of her daughter, and I decided to take her and provide her with education. This will enable her to be self reliance and compete with others in job market. We never gotten chance to continue With our education due to the extreme poverty and I never ever like my children to pass through the same, therefore the money I received from GiveDirectly I invested on education.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
I have never gone without food, my children are studying in peace after paying school fees and I know if any unfortunate incident happens in my life, I will find away to solve it easily without asking for help from others.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt very happy because I have never received such kind of money in my life and that my children were never going to be at home while others are studying because of school fees.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my transfer on buying sofa set since the one I had was old, two tables, steel windows and fitted in my house, food for my family, school requirements for my children, paid school fees for two children who had been sent home and a cow to help raise money for other financial needs.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will be able to improve my house. I plan to buy sand and cement to plaster my floor and also purchase a steel door for my back door which is currently wooden.With the second transfer, I plan to purchase two goats and one cow for keeping.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when I come back home from work. I get time to bond with my children while helping them out with their homework and also when narrating stories to them.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I have faced was losing my husband at a very early stage into our marriage. His death completely disrupted the once comfortable life that my children and I had been accustomed to. Presently my income is hardly enough to sustain most of their basic needs more so providing for them food consistently, paying for their school fees and paying for their medical expenses.
